MHC Academy is an accredited training provider of mandatory training courses. MHC Academy takes great pride in delivering outstanding classroom-based training. Our training team have collectively over many years’ of experience in mental health, physical health and challenging behaviours within Health & Social Care settings.
Our trainers are Registered Nurse trained, AET teaching qualifications and CPD maintained. MHC academy offers a wide range of health & social care courses to meet the needs of our customers and partner organisations.
We work in partnership with our customers to upskill and support their staff with their professional development needs. Courses can be personalised to meet the specific needs of your organisation with the capacity to support up to 15 learners within our fully equipped practical training rooms.

Our training sessions
Safer People Moving and Handling
Manual handling of People face-to-face training is applicable for those working in areas where the assistance and movement of people is a prerequisite part of their job role. Individuals gaining this face-to-face training will learn that moving and handling must be carried out efficiently and identify this importance in ensuring a safer and more secure working environment. This “Manual Handling of people” face-to-face training is for those working in areas where the assistance and movement of people is a prerequisite part of their role
● This course covers techniques to minimise the risk of injury from lifting, pushing, pulling or carrying and reflects the requirements of the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 (amended 2002).
Topics covered in the course include.
● The correct technique to carry out safe manual handling
● Anatomy and physiology – manual handling risk factors and how injuries can occur
● Manual handling risk assessment
● Record keeping
● Safety legislation
● Statistics on workplace injurie.
3 Days Physical Intervention Training Course (PMVA)
Our PMVA training provides training in the prevention and management of any violence or aggression within the workplace. Our training sessions includes both non-physical and physical skills to help s when faced with challenging behaviour within the work environment. All of our training is in line with current best practice guidance related to the therapeutic management of violence and aggression. Our training covers the below; –
